Sarah | Body & Soul

I launched the ‘Body & Soul’ Campaign with the mission to empower and inspire confidence in women by showcasing their true self, strength, beauty and celebrate who they are right now. I want to help shift perspectives about beauty and show that EVERY body is beautiful… EVERY body is a work of art. But most importantly, we are more than how we look and what size clothes we wear. There is a story inside us all that has made us who we are today. And who we are right now is worth celebrating. So I’d love for you to follow along, read the stories of these incredible women and be inspired.

Meet SARAH

“When I was younger, my Nan used to always say to me ‘If only you weren’t so fat you could be a model’. I have always struggled with loving the skin I’m in since hearing that as a teenager.

“I moved to Darwin when I was 18 to try and find myself and fell in love for the first time ever. He broke my heart and after we broke up I found out I was pregnant. I flew back home and started my life as a single mum for nearly 4 years.

I then met my one true love and he accepted me as me, mental health problems and all as well as accepting my littlest love, my son and we now have a nearly 4yr old together as well. As much as I struggle with my mental health, I get up every day for my boys and off to work I go. My youngest melts my heart as he constantly tells me, ‘mummy you're beautiful’ and he calls me his princess.”

I asked Sarah what the word ‘beauty’ means to her and how important owning a beautiful Body & Soul Boudoir portrait of herself was, and she said “To me, beauty comes from within. You can be the most beautiful woman on the outside but if you are not beautiful on the inside it can change how people see you. I am a giver. I will give my all to help out others and shower them with love, I have so much love to give to everyone that wants my love and support and friendship. I think a beautiful boudoir portrait would help me see myself in a different light; it will help with my confidence.”

Sarah’s words of advice for someone who struggles to see their own beauty:

“Everyone is beautiful in their own way. You are beautiful never forget that. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; if it is a gloomy day use your beauty within to create a rainbow to light up the sky for all that may be struggling.”

Sarah’s words on her experience leading up to her photoshoot and the reality of it: “There are no words to express the comparison; I went in sceptical that I could have a beautiful photo taken of myself and walked out blown away by how comfortable I felt.

Instead of feeling no love for the person I see in the mirror, I now feel as though I am beautiful no matter my size shape or age and now I will forever look at my photos when I am feeling not worthy of my beauty. This experience was more than I could of ever dreamt of.”

Sarah, it was a joy to photograph you and boy did we have fun! You are INCREDIBLE! Thank you for your vulnerability, for trusting me to capture the real you and for a truly amazing day!
